The easiest way to add a new blog to The Wikablog is to go to this example page and follow the very simple instructions. If you just want to put your blog on here, that's all you need. If you want to know more about how this all works, read on.

First, you should know that every page has a name of some sort -- for example, the name of this page is "CreatingNewPages". Placing the name of a page in double brackets (e.g., [[Creating new pages]]) automatically creates a link to a page with that name, or is followed by a "?" if the named page doesn't exist. Clicking on the "?" takes you to a form to be able to create the new page.

The easiest way to create a new page: In your browser's URL field, replace the name of the current page with the name of the page you wish to create -- for instance, to create a page called "Wonderblog", type "www.wikablog.com/Blogs/Wonderblog" -- and hit Enter or do whatever you would normally do to go to a new location. This will bring up a new page with the text "Describe <page name> here." Click on the "Edit Page" link to edit and save your new page.

Another way to create a new page is to simply edit an existing page and add a link to the page you want to create, such as [[my new page]]. (The Sandbox is a good place in which to create initial links.) Then, after saving the changes to the existing page, click on the "?" following your link to bring up a form for creating your new page. Enter the text of your new page in the form, press Save, and you're done!

In addition to using the double-bracket links above, this site also recognizes WikiWords, which are simply sequences of capitalized words joined together. Wiki Words simply become links to pages of the same name without requiring the brackets.

Try to use descriptive words to name your new pages to make the contents clear to the users. If you add a new blog to the site, give the page the same name as the blog.

Whenever you add a new blog to Wikablog, please put it in at least one Category by putting this code near the top of the page:

 Categories:
 * [[!categoryname1]]
 * [[!categoryname2]]

Try to avoid duplicating category names. For instance, don't use the category name "Travelling" if "Travel" already exists. If you use a category that doesn't already exist, please then go to its page by clicking on the link you've created, and add a brief description -- otherwise, it won't appear in the index.

And don't forget to include a prominent link to the blog itself.
